Open Competition: Higher Executive Officers Business Support Unit - Dublin, Athlone and Kilkenny

The Probation Service is an executive agency within the Department of Justice. We play an important role in helping to reduce the level of crime and to increase public safety by working with offenders to help change their behaviour and make good the harm done by crime. We are the lead agency in the assessment and management of offenders in our community.

The Probation Service is holding an open competition for the appointment of Higher Executive Officers, Business Support Unit. 

 

Location: We currently have vacancies in the following counties: Dublin, Athlone and Kilkenny. If you are successful in this competition you will be placed on a panel in order of merit from which vacancies will be filled.

The Role        

 

The successful Higher Executive Officer will lead and manage the Business Support Unit in one of five regions across Ireland. The HEO in each Business Support Unit will report to the Regional Manager (APPO). These Units will provide a wide range of administrative and support tasks within the region,

 

The duties of Higher Executive Officer appointed to the Business Support Unit include (but are not limited to):

 

The roles and responsibilities in the unit involve:

  • Manage and lead the Business Support Unit in the areas of; Facilities Management, Estate Management, Health and Safety and Administrative Support.
  • Providing support to the Community Service Region.
  • Assist Finance Unit with local procurement, tendering and assets register.
  • Compile regional performance management and other statistics.
  • Liaise with Community Based Organisations for local service requirements and new services.
  • Line management and training of clerical staff in local offices.
  • Any other administrative duties as required.
