New competition for the recruitment of Probation Officers in the Probation Service 2016
We are pleased to announce a new competition for the role of Probation Officer in the Probation Service has been advertised. The competition, which is being run by the Public Appointments Service, has a closing date for receipt of completed applications of 18th March 2016.
The Probation Service is an agency of the Department of Justice and Equality and is a national service with offices in over 30 locations throughout the country. Probation Officers may be assigned to duties in any of the following areas: Courts and Community, Prisons/Places of Detention, Young Persons Probation or other particular assignments that may arise in the Service. The majority of appointments will be to the Dublin environs; however a limited number of regional appointments may also be made.
The successful candidates will hold a Level 8 qualification on the National Framework of Qualifications in Social Science with a social policy component, or an equivalent qualification recognised for entry to one of the courses approved by CORU, the Health and Social Care Professionals Council, as well as relevant work experience in a probation or social work setting or a recognised professional qualification in Social Work.
