Linkage Service launch 2009 Annual Report (July 2010)

The 2009 Annual Report of Business in the Community Ireland's Linkage Service was officially launched on Thursday, 1st July 2010 at a reception held at the Probation Service Offices in Haymarket, Dublin. The report was presented to Michael Donnellan, Director of The Probation Service by Business in the Community Ireland.

Funded by the Probation Service under the National Development Plan, The Linkage Service is managed by Business in the Community Ireland (BITCI). The Linkage Service is part of the National Anti-Poverty Strategy and received funding of approximately €1.47 million from the Department of Justice and Law Reform through the Probation Service in 2009.

Michael Donnellan, Director of the Probation Service when accepting the report highlighted the need”to improve and assist the endeavour of those ex-offenders who want to break the cycle, change their lifestyle and become contributing members of their communities. This requires partnerships, ‘joined up’ services and effective working with communities.”

Mr. Donnellan also made reference to the newly published study on desistance among offenders entitled The Dynamics of Desistance by Dr Deirdre Healy of UCD Institute of Criminology.
