Learning/Training

All training activities are developed and delivered by reference to the goals/actions identified within the Service Strategy and annual work plans. As part of the Performance Management and Development System, staff have the opportunity to identify with their managers the training and development needs required for their particular role. Training schedules are produced biannually.

The Directorate maintains close links with the Corporate Learning Unit in the Department of Justice and the Civil Service Training and Development Unit. Probation staff can also avail of the Civil Service post entry education scheme to access training in relevant related disciplines.

Self Directed Learning:
Training staff are committed to supporting and promoting learning which is self managed and on- the- job and assist and guide staff to acquire knowledge on relevant subjects.
