Corporate Services
The role of the unit is to provide business support services to the Probation Service. Among its responsibilities are the following:
· Administrative support nationally
· Health & Safety
· Customer Service
· Management of Contracts
· Purchase of non-IT equipment and services
· Telecommunications
· Management of information e.g. Data Protection, FOI, Parliamentary Questions.
· File Registry
There are over 40 Probation Service offices throughout the country. Administrative support is providied by Clerical Officers who are key to supporting frontline delivery of service in the community and in our offices in prisons and places of detention. Regional Executive Officers ensure consistency of approach nationally, notwithstanding the geographical spread of offices and ensure effective service delivery.
Estate and Facilities management
This role of this unit is to ensure that:
· the Probation offices meet Health and Safety requirements and that they are maintained to a proper standard
· To deal with new and replacement office accommodation.
· To manage premises of the Probation Service nationwide incorporating leases, installations and maintenance.
· To continuously review security measures in all premises occupied by the Probation Service.
· Liaison with the Office of Public Works (OPW) as required.

Information Communications Technology (ICT)
The role of the unit is the provision and support of a range of IT services which support the operational and strategic functions of the Probation Service.
This includes the following:
· Supply, installation and maintenance of office equipment and the provision of infrastructure for the Probation Service that supports its communication needs.
· Operational support for existing computer systems including system security and availability of facilities
· Maintenance and enhancement of existing systems and technical architectures
· Development, management and support of the Probation Service network
· Provision of Service Desk support
· Procurement of IT related hardware, software, consumables and IT related services.
Health and Safety
Health and Safety is managed from within Corporate Services. The remit includes the following:
· Implementing the Service’s National Safety Statement and the Community Service Safety Statement.
· Implementing Health and Safety audits to identify risks and to devise effective risk management strategies.
· Developing Health and Safety protocols and procedures for use by all staff in all locations, nationally, communicating this and ensuring compliance.
· Establishing systems to manage and support Health and Safety (databases, training, information distribution)
Information and Statistics
The Information and Statistics Unit is responsible for the following:
· Provision of routine statistics as required by Service Management.
· The identification and introduction of reporting of data as required facilitating statistical analysis.
· Ongoing data quality improvement.
· Development of related software systems.
