Community Based Organisations in receipt of funding support through the Probation Service

The Probation Service recognises and acknowledges the important role that the community plays in working with offenders, supporting their rehabilitation, re-integration and engagement in a positive lifestyle. We therefore engage with a range of Community Based Organisations, supporting and enabling them to develop and deliver services across communities which enhances the work of the Service in changing offending behaviour.

Community Based Organisations provide a range of services to adult and young offenders in local communities, including training and education, offending  behaviour programmes, residential accommodation, and drug and alcohol treatment programmes. These organisations offer a service to offenders who might not  otherwise be in a position to avail of a mainstream service opportunity. Each year these organisations commit to a range of outputs in line with the Strategy and Work Plans of the Probation Service

Service providers are subject to established Probation Service funding agreements and to the terms and conditions of Department of Public Expenditure and Reform Circular 13/2014, available at the following link.

The European Social Funding Programme for Employability, Inclusion and Learning 2014-2020, which is co-funded by the Irish Government, continues to fund five of our partner Community Based Organisations.
